First. Post. Ever. Weird?

Hello. So I went to bed last night and right before I feel asleep, I remembered having a specific conversation with my roommates grandpa. I had told him that I was interested in studying journalism, and in reply he asked if I had started a blog. Of course, there was no blog under my name in the entire online world and to be honest, he seemed quite bamboozled by that notion. "All aspiring journalists must have a blog!" he proclaimed, and I assured him I would change my blog-less status in the near future.

This little occurrence was probably over a month ago at a Mexican restaurant where they serve 7 lb. burritos and where it is totally acceptable to get ice cream filled sopaipillas for dinner. I envied my roommate's grandpa for being able to make that decision (it sounded delicious, but I would have felt way too guilty after). I do remember my shrimp tacos being yummy and worth it though.

If only he could see me now! Starting my blog. Writing about sopaipillas. In case you don't know what a sopaipilla is (I didn't), here is a little definition for you:

sopaipilla: (noun) a deep-fried pastry, typically square, eaten with honey or sugar or as a bread.
Looks delicious right?! I actually am not a fan of fried or overly-sweet desserts, but once I tried one of these nuggets of warm, delicious, goodness I realized that sopaipillas might forever be an exception. I am an ice cream, carrot cake, and cheesecake kind of girl, and always will be. Cookies too.

I'm glad my first post is centered around grandpa's wisdom and dessert. Aren't you?
